City of Sanford The City of Sanford has been diligently prepping for Hurricane Idalia over the past few days.  __
City Closures__City Hall and all City Facilities will be closed on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023.  City Hall is expected to re-open on Thursday, August 31 at 7am. In the event of further closures additional updates will be provided. __
Public Works and Utilities__Staff is prepped and ready to respond to any Public Works and Utility needs. __
Utilities__The City’s Vacuum sewer system is fully functional. __
Sandbags__The City offers two sandbag locations for your convenience open 8am-8pm:800 West Fulton Street1715 W. 18th Street (18th St. Park)Please be sure to bring your own shovel and gloves.  The limit is 15 bags per person. __
Garbage and Recycling__Due to transfer station and landfill closures, there will be NO COLLECTION of garbage, yard waste or recycle on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.__
Parks and Recreation__All City of Sanford programs for youth, sports and seniors are canceled on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023.All rental facilities, parks and public restrooms will remain closed on Wednesday, August 30th. The Riverwalk and all public park amenities will be unavailable during this time including playgrounds, pavilions, common areas, exercise trails, baseball and softball fields and the basketball, tennis, pickleball and volleyball courts.  All outdoor practices on Tuesday, August 29th have been cancelled at the Tim Raines Sports Park including baseball, flag football and soccer.We anticipate all facilities and parks to reopen and all programming to resume on Thursday, August 31, 2023, following staff’s assessment of any storm damage.__
